Map Questions

Clarifying some of the mysteries of the cartography

  • The dots are key lightstations.

    The squares are the key provisioning towns. Sometimes they aren't labeled because I chose to put something else in the available space.

  • Most modern cartography is a digital process. I use a software called QGIS to process spatial data into something useful for cartography. There's a lot of steps. If you really want to know message me and maybe I'll write a blog about it :)

  • The stack varies by map, but generally includes a GEBCO bathymetry layer, and a SRTM topography layer. Freshwater features come from various government sources. Coastlines are generated using DEMs. Points and labels are manually placed.

  • Nope. Despite the very cool bathymetry data, this is a map. It's a beautiful, artistic, one of a kind map, and it is not meant for navigation.

Shipping Questions

Shipping to Canada and the USA

  • US Customers: Not affected. US orders are printed IN the US and shipped with USPS.

    Canadian Customers: Due to the ongoing Canada Post strike, in Canada I will be doing *free* standard shipping with UPS.

    Please Note: Some addresses can’t be serviced by my alternate carrier and will be shipped with Canada Post, which may result in delays from the rotating strike:
    - PO Boxes
    - Remote communities with only Canada Post service

  • Canada orders: Printed and shipped in Canada, which means no extra fees from customs, duties, or tariffs.

    US orders:
    Printed and shipped in the US, which means no extra fees from customs, duties, or tariffs.

  • You can make changes for six hours after placing your order. Contact me at mapwizard@cdedwards.com if you’d like to change the shipping or cancel your order.

    I am unable to make changes to the products in your order.

    Please note that after 6 hours your order goes into the production queue and I cannot modify or cancel it. Shipping charges are non-refundable.

  • Please allow 1-4 days for your map to get printed.

    During peak periods such as sales, holidays and product launches, please allow up to 6 business days for your order to get processed.

    Once an order is placed, you have six hours to make any address updates, order changes or cancellations.

  • Delivery timelines do not include processing times. See above for details. All transit times are measured in business days which are Monday-Friday, excluding holidays.

    Please note, all shipping timelines are estimates and are not guaranteed.

  • I will send you an email confirmation after your order has been placed, and another email with the tracking number once your order has shipped.

    If your package has been marked delivered, but you did not receive a delivery, wait a few days to see if the shipment shows up. I also recommend checking with neighbors nearby for delivery errors. I am not responsible for delivery driver errors or for packages stolen after delivery.

  • All products are unframed and are carefully rolled and shipped in stout poster tubes. Allow time to flatten print upon arrival. Packaging is plastic free and recyclable.

Refunds and Exchanges

30 Day Returns

  • My mission at the CDEdwards Map Store is to provide premium works of art that you will enjoy for years to come. I understand the uncertainties associated with online shopping and I want to make the process as simple as possible.

  • • Your print must be in the same condition you received it.
    • Please re-package the print exactly as it arrived to minimize damage in transit.
    • Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the collector.

    A refund will be issued once the print reaches me and passes inspection.

  • To start a return, email mapwizard@cdedwards.com and I will give you further instructions. Please include your name and order number in the request.

    Items sent without prior approval will not be accepted.

    Customers are responsible for paying for return shipping costs, shipping costs are non-refundable. It is highly recommended that returns are shipped using a tracking service and insurance. If a return is lost in transit, I cannot offer a refund on the order.

  • In the rare case your product was misprinted or damaged during shipping, reach out to me at mapwizard@cedwards.com and I will get you a new print as soon as possible. Be sure to send photographs of the full print or the damage, and your name and order number.

    Inspect your order upon arrival. If it’s defective, damaged, or incorrect, contact me right away so I can make it right.

  • I’ll notify you once I’ve received and inspected your return.

    If approved, a refund will be issued to your original payment method within 10 business days.

    Please allow extra time for your bank or credit card provider to process the refund.
